Objectives and activities of the organization:
The Ministry of Information Technology and Communication (MITC) is a central specialized public administration body which elaborates and ensures the development of the Informational Society Statute (telecommunication, post, TV and broadcasts).
Main functions:
- Elaboration, realization of state policy in information technology and telecommunication area, taking into account global information technologies development, protection, and use of information.
- Creation of a unique system of training, storage, and use of state information resources.
- Development, use of information technologies and telecommunication to increase living standards, to improve the educational system, science development, health, social security, culture.
- Prior elaboration and realization of local development: the information area in order to support the development of national science and education (Renan and Salt programs).
Role of the organization in the project:
- Two meetings at MITC with Dr. Dona SCOLA, Vice-minister for project presentation:
- Participation agreement,
- Sending a representative to the Scientific and Pedagogical Committee as observer,
- The engagement, within Renan and Salt programs, regarding local implementation of information resources, development of relations which assure the access to project’s multimedia (access to Internet, providing computers) for employed students, throughout the locality (Technical Parks for the implementation of scientific use). Dr. Dona SCOLA will supervise and verify project’s performances for the UNT network.
